Message from the Associate Dean for Research & Faculty Development

Dan BerchWelcome to the Curry School Research and Faculty Development Web Site. This component of the Dean’s Office created in the Spring of 2008 represents a unique and very exciting effort to do the following:

a) Expand upon the previous and noteworthy research-related and scholarly achievements at the Curry School.

b) Assist an already accomplished and dedicated group of faculty and graduate students in their pursuit of an even higher level of research excellence and productivity in the education sciences.

While ongoing and planned research activities cover a wide range of topics, the work as a whole is directed toward the School’s overarching themes of discovery, creativity, and change. In addition, a large percentage of these projects consist of interdisciplinary efforts in collaboration with faculty representing numerous other departments and colleges at U.Va.

The School’s rapidly developing evidenced-based approach to educational policy and practice are evident in its increased emphasis on the importance of scholarship and external funding with respect to a broad array of educational activities and initiatives. These efforts have been validated by the Curry School’s recent acceptance as a member institution of the Learning and Education Academic Research Network (LEARN), a coalition of the nation’s leading research colleges of education.

This site is divided into several sections to facilitate ease of accessing various forms of research-related information by different audiences.
