Curry Alumnus Supporting US Olympic Swim Team at 2008 Beijing Olympics

August 7, 2008: Curry alumnus and athletic trainer, Ian McLeod, is serving as a member of the medical staff for the U.S. Olympic Swim Team during the 2008 Beijing Olympics. McLeod graduated from the Curry School in 1998 with a master's degree in sports medicine. After graduating, he worked as a full-time assistant athletic trainer for the U.Va. athletic department, working with the swimming and diving program.

Alumni Profile: Donna Wilkins Downing

downing A number of Curry alums with teaching degrees spend a few years in the classroom then go on to successful careers in other fields. Being teachers at heart, however, some of them, like Donna Wilkins Downing (M.Ed. ’72), inevitably find their way back to education, often through their volunteer interests.

For four years after graduating from the Curry School, Downing stayed in the Charlottesville area and taught elementary school: one year in Orange and three years at Clark Elementary in Charlottesville. “I loved it,” she says, and to this day she keeps in touch with her colleagues from Clark (more).

Upcoming Events: Homecoming 2008

Please join us for our 2008 Alumni Homecoming Party!

The Curry School will host its annual homecoming party outside of Ruffner Hall on Saturday, November 1, 2008. The Virginia Cavaliers will take on the Miami Hurricanes in Scott Stadium. So please plan on joining us for some good food and great fun at the Curry School in conjunction with cheering on your favorite football team to victory!
