Joanne McNergney is a professor in the Department of Curriculum, Instruction, and Special Education and Assistant Dean of Admissions and Student Services at the Curry School of Education, University of Virginia. She is also chair of the University\'s Undergraduate Admission Committee. McNergney teaches courses in curriculum, instruction, assessment, and educational foundations. She has also taught a set of Internet-based courses with colleagues in the United States, Canada, England, France, and Scandinavia. A former teacher in the Charlottesville Public Schools, Charlottesville, Virginia, McNergney has 15 years experience working with children in grades K-4. Her writings have been published in the Journal of Personnel Evaluation in Education, Journal of Research and Development in Education, Journal of Information Technology for Teacher Education, Journal of Curriculum and Supervision, and Journal of Teacher Education. McNergney is co-founder of CaseNEX, LLC. She is also co-author of a textbook, Education: The Practice and Profession of Teaching, Pearson Education Co.
In her position as Assistant Dean of Admissions and Student Services, McNergney is primarily responsible for: (1) overseeing admissions, enrollment, licensure, and graduation of on- and off-Grounds students and (2) creating, developing, and coordinating activities and interactions with individuals and groups within the University and with external constituents as they relate to student affairs.
