Summary

karen_fordThe Phonological Awareness Literacy Screening (PALS) is an assessment that is administered each fall and spring to over a quarter of a million children to determine whether they are making adequate progress in learning to read and also to provide instructionally-transparent diagnostic information to teachers. The purpose of the current project is to produce a valid and reliable Spanish version of PALS. This assessment, together with the accompanying instructional support that will be provided, will give teachers the tools they need to design effective literacy instruction for their Spanish-speaking English language learners.
