Executive Director, Curry School of Education Foundation
The University of Virginia's Curry School of Education invites applications for an Executive Director in the Curry School Foundation. This position oversees and directs fundraising and other advancement activities for all units of the Curry School of Education at the University of Virginia. The ED/CSF is accountable to the Dean of the Curry School of Education, to the Office of Development & Public Affairs, as well as to key volunteer leaders of the Curry School Foundation. The ED/CSF has overall responsibility for all fundraising programs and alumni affairs initiatives, and for the relationship management and growth of all constituencies. Additionally, she/he will be responsible for executing and concluding a broad-based $55 million capital campaign.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have at least five years of significant development, marketing, or sales experience. The candidate must have: unquestioned personal integrity; a strong personal work ethic, be self-motivated and results-oriented; extraordinary energy, drive, and initiative; enthusiasm, ability to take risks, and the courage to speak and act on convictions; a strong and persuasive oral and written communications skills; the ability to represent the Curry School and University of Virginia to external audiences; be a team-builder with a collaborative style; a mature, charismatic personality possessing the style, stature, leadership and diplomatic skills to work effectively with the Dean, advancement colleagues, senior staff, and volunteers to marshal the full fundraising potential of the Curry School of Education. A Masters degree is preferred; a Bachelor's degree required. Significant development, marketing or sales experience required. The individual selected will have the ability to build and lead complex organizations through effective management and team-building. Demonstrated achievement in a major capital campaign and previous success in major gift cultivation and solicitation ($100,000 and above) is required. The candidate selected must have a willingness to travel, at times extensively. In addition, preference will be given to candidates who have a background in a sophisticated non-profit environment or prominent university setting.
